1. Câu so sánh trong tiếng anh 

Với các kiến thức ngữ pháp khi học tiếng Anh, câu so sánh rất hay được sử dụng. Ngoài mục đích so sánh đơn thuần, câu so sánh sẽ được sử dụng khi muốn nhấn mạnh ý trong câu. Ví dụ: She is as beautiful as Anna, but you know what, my wife is even more beautiful than Anna.

2. Câu so sánh bằng

a. Định nghĩa

- So sánh bằng là khi chúng ta so sánh cái này như cái kia, cái này bằng cái kia.

b. Công thức

as + ADJ/ADV + as hoặc so + ADJ/ADV + as (ít dùng hơn)

- Câu so sánh bằng có thể dùng trong 2 trường hợp:

Nói đầy đủ chủ ngữ và động từ: 

She sings as beautifully as a singer does. → sau so sánh bằng có chủ ngữ vị ngữ: a singer does.

Nói tắt động từ:

She sings as beautifully as a singer. → sau so sánh bằng là danh từ: a singer.

3. Câu so sánh hơn

- Có 2 cách so sánh bằng tiếng Anh, trong đó so sánh hơn dùng để để so sánh giữa người (hoặc vật) này với người (hoặc vật) khác. Cấu trúc của câu so sánh hơn:

- Short Adj: S + to be + adj + er + than + Noun/ Pronoun

- Long Adj: S + to be  + more + adj + than + Noun/ Pronoun

Ex:

- My brother is taller than you.

- He runs faster than me.

- Lara is more beautiful than her older sister.

- My wife woke up earlier than me this morning.

4. Câu so sánh nhất

- Công thức so sánh nhất với tính từ và trạng từ ngắn: S + V + the + Adj/Adv + -est

- Ví dụ: 

+ My brother is the tallest in our family.

+ Sunday is the coldest day of the month so far.

+ He runs the fastest in my city.

+ Linda is the youngest person in my office.

+ My house is the highest one in my neighborhood.

- Công thức so sánh nhất với tính từ và trạng từ dài: S + V + the + most + Adj/Adv

- Ví dụ:

+ The most boring thing about English course is doing grammar exercises.

+ Lisa is the most careful person I ever have known.

+ Of all the students, she does the most quickly.

+ This is the most difficult case we have ever encountered.

+ Linda is the most intelligent student in my class.

Lưu ý: Có thể thêm “very” trước cụm từ so sánh để mang ý nghĩa nhấn mạnh. Ví dụ: Here is the very latest news about the accident.

5. Các trường hợp đặc biệt

- Với những tính từ có hai âm tiết nhưng tận cùng bằng -er, -le, -ow, -et, ta xem như là một tính từ ngắn:

clever → cleverer → the cleverest

simple → simpler → the simplest

narrow → narrower → the narrowest

quiet → quieter → the quietest

- Với những tính từ có hai âm tiết mà tận cùng bằng -y, ta cần chuyển -y thành -i, rồi sau đó mới thêm đuôi -er hoặc -est:

dirty → dirtier → the dirtiest

easy → easier → the easiest

happy → happier → the happiest

pretty → prettier → the prettiest

early → earlier → the earliest

- Với những trạng từ có hai âm tiết mà tận cùng bằng -ly, ta cần dùng cấu trúc "more" hoặc "most":

quickly → more quickly → the most quickly

likely → more likely → the most likely

- Với những tính từ ngắn, nếu trước phụ âm cuối từ là một nguyên âm, thì ta gấp đôi phụ âm cuối từ:

big → bigger → biggest

sad → sadder → saddest
