Describe a law on environmental protection your country should have

Describe a law on environmental protection your country should have ( miêu tả một điều luật trong việc bảo vệ môi trường mà đất nước bạn có)– là đề bài IELTS Speaking xuất hiện liên tục trong đề thi thực chiến dạo gần đây.

1. Ý tưởng bài mẫu (tiếng Việt)

b. Phát hiện ý tưởng

Tác động: Thúc đẩy việc xây dựng nhà máy điện hạt nhân Khi được xây dựng, nhà máy điện hạt nhân cung cấp nguồn sản xuất điện thay thế cho việc khai thác than

Giải thích vì sao: Điện từ than chiếm tỷ trọng cao nhất trong sản lượng điện toàn cầu Khai thác than rất bẩn và gây tàn phá môi trường Sản xuất điện từ năng lượng sạch như nắng và gió chưa đủ khả năng thay thế than Năng lượng hạt nhân vừa sạch hơn than, vừa cho sản lượng hiệu quả hơn các phương pháp sản xuất sạch khác → Phát triển năng lượng hạt nhân để thay thế khai thác than, ngăn chặn sự tổn hại gây ra cho môi trường từ hoạt động khai thác than.

2. Ý tưởng bằng Tiếng anh

a.

- What the law is : A law that subsidizes nuclear power plants

- How the law would work :The government provides subsidies to companies involved in constructing and maintaining nuclear power plants

b.

- Effects this law would have: Facilitates building nuclear power plants When the nuclear power plant is built, it gives the country an alternative source of producing electricity to coal-mining

- Why this law is needed: +Electricity produced from coal accounts for the most power generation in the world

+ Coal-mining isn’t clean and can cause irreparable damage to the environment

+ Cleaner production of electricity from solar power and wind power is not efficient enough to replace production from coal

+ Nuclear power is cleaner than mining coal and much more efficient than other clean methods of electricity production (such as building solar panels and wind turbines)

+ Producing electricity from nuclear power plants can replace the coal industry and prevent the damage coal mining causes to the environment.

If I am to talk about a law that would contribute to protecting the environment, I will pick the one that subsidizes nuclear power plants. Specifically, the government would be responsible for providing subsidies to companies involved in constructing and maintaining nuclear power generators. You may wonder how this is related to safeguarding the environment, but this is one of the most realistic choices any government can opt for, when we’re surrounded by so many suggestions that sound good but aren’t based in reality. Now, hopefully, if this law goes into effect, it would open the door to the construction of nuclear power plants. And when nuclear power generators are built, the country would be expected to have an alternative method of producing electricity to coal-mining. Coal is currently the source of the most electricity in the world, but have you ever seen a coal mine? It is extremely dirty and can cause irreparable damage to the environment. Electricity production from coal should be replaced somehow, but solar power and wind power are neither efficient nor developed quickly enough to supplant coal. We need to look to existing technologies and nuclear energy fits the bill, it’s both clean and cost-effective. Producing electricity from nuclear reactors would phase out the coal industry and prevent any further impact that mining coal inflicts on the environment. It’s why I think this law is necessary

Vocabulary:

Subsidize (v.): trợ cấp

Subsidy (n.): khoản trợ cấp

Safeguard (v.): bảo vệ

Opt for (v.): lựa chọn

Go into effect (v.): có hiệu lực

Irreparable (adj.): không thể sửa chữa

Supplant (v.): thay thế

Cost-effective (adj.): có hiệu suất cao

Phase out (v.): làm lỗi thời

Inflict (v.): gây hại.

In today’s contemporary epoch, the concern for the environment has increased due to the growing awareness in this domain. So, the government should consider the need of the hour and introduce environmental protection laws to conserve mother nature.

Mother Earth is deteriorating, and if this trend continues,  future generations will find it impossible to live in a safe environment. I’d suggest the government introduce a law regarding the blanket ban on plastic bags, which I think would be the most effective way to protect the environment because the usage of plastic bags is a threat to human and animal life in the ecosystem.

Although the government has levied heavy taxes on plastic bags, it’s not of much use. So, a law stating the complete ban on plastic bags should be introduced. As per that law, consumers can use jute bags, PP bags, canvas bags or reusable bags to replace plastic bags. The use of biodegradable bags and the prohibition of plastic bags will positively impact the environment. For instance, there will be less pollution, no floating plastics in the water, less rubbish in the streams, and less litter on the roads.

Implementing this law will be a blessing for every nature lover and for those who want to conserve the environment. With the stringent ban on plastic bags, the environment will be less polluted and cleaner. Every small effort of human beings will bring in a lot of difference in the environment, and I firmly believe that this law will bring an exemplary difference in everyone’s life.

I think one of the environmental laws that our city (or our country) urgently needs to put in place is banning barbecues by rivers or lakes. And violators should be punished.

I say this because off a heavily polluted river near my grandmother’s house. I visit my grandma by bus every two weeks. There’s a river that the bus must pass on the route, and it bothers me every time the bus gets close to it, especially during summer. There are always tons of people having a barbeque by the liver. They seem like they’re having a blast, but I’ve seen a ton of ashes, used tissues, and plastic bags everywhere on the river bank

In recent years, I’ve seen garbage floating on the water all the time. And when the windows on the bus are open in the summer, I can even smell the stink caused by all the garbage, which really sets me off.

However, I haven’t seen any action from the government to deal with the pollution. Honestly, the problem of environmental pollution goes beyond just affecting our mood. It also threatens people’s health and safety. So I think it is time that the government makes a strict law to prevent water pollution. Just like the drunk driving law in our country, severe punishment can be effective in changing people’s behavior. If the government could have the grit to work hard on it, I believe the river will be restored to clean water and may even have thriving plants alongside the river bank.
