1a. Listen again to part of the conversation. Underline the past simple or the present perfect (Lắng nghe lại một phần của bài hội thoại. Gạch chân quá khứ đơn hay hiện tại hoàn thành.)

Bài nghe:

Reporter: Have you ever done volunteer work?

Mai: Yes, I'm a member of Be a Buddy - a programme that helps street children.

Last year we provided evening classes for fifty children.

Reporter: Wonderful! What else have you done?

Mai: We've asked people to donate books and clothes to the children.

1b. When do we use the past simple? When do we use the present perfect? Can you think of the rule?(Khi nào chúng ta sử dụng quá khứ đơn? Khi nào chúng ta sử dụng thì hiện tại hoàn thành? Bạn có thể nghĩ ra quy luật không?)

- Thì quá khứ đơn: Dùng để diễn tả một hành động đã bắt đầu và chấm dứt hoàn toàn trong quá khứ.

Ví dụ:

Last year, we provided evening classes for fifty children.

- Thì hiện tạỉ hoàn thành: Diễn tả hành động đã xảy ra trước thời điểm nói. Thời gian thường không xác định chính xác.

Ví dụ:

We've asked people to donate books and clothes to the children.

Remember! (Ghi nhớ)

- Chúng ta thường dùng mốc thời gian cụ thể: yesterday, last month, two years ago cho thì quá khứ đơn.

- Chúng ta thường dùng: ever, never, so far, several times ... cho thì hiện tại hoàn thành.

2. Past simple or present perfect? Put the verb in brackets into the correct form.(Quá khứ đơn hay hiện tại hoàn thành? Cho dạng đúng của động từ trong ngoặc.)

Go Green

A: What did Go Green do in 2012?

B: In 2012 Go Green started clean-upprojects on every first Sunday.

A: What has Go Green done so far?

B: It has helped people recycle rubbish and cleaned up streets and lakes. It has  also planted flowers and trees.
