I. Cách dùng của Of

1. Chỉ sở hữu hoặc mối quan hệ

Ví dụ:

2. Chỉ nguồn gốc (cụm made of something)

Ví dụ:

This shirt is made of fabric: Chiếc áo này được làm từ vải.The table is made of wood: Bàn được làm từ gỗ.

3. Đi cùng với các danh từ để chỉ số lượng

Ví dụ:

He wants a cup of coffee.: Anh ấy muốn một cốc cà phê.The number of people is decreasing: Số lượng người đang giảm.

4. Đi cùng với type, kind, sort, genre để chỉ thể loại nào đó

Type: Thường được dùng để nói về đặc điểm riêng nào đó của một nhóm nhỏ trong một tập của nhóm lớn
Kind: Thường được dùng đối với một nhóm lớn hoặc các nhóm có mối liên hệ gia đình trong tự nhiên
Sort: Thường để nói về bản chất, tính cách hơn về nhận diện đặc điểm bên ngoài của người, vật hoặc sự vật hiện tượng và có thể dùng trong trường hợp mang ý nghĩa không tích cực. Ngoài ra, còn được dùng diễn tả một sự phân loại đối tượng và thường được sử dụng cho vật hoặc động vật hơn dùng cho người.
Genre: Thường được dùng cho các loại hình giải trí như phim, trò chơi, sách, vẽ tranh, v.v.
