Long ago, in the year 1070, there were no universities in Viet Nam. So, in 1076, Emperor Ly Nhan Tong decided to build one- the Imperial Academy. It is considered the first university in Viet Nam. The university was a great success and thousands of Vietnamese scholars graduated from this university.

The Imperial Academy has a long and interesting history. Many kings, emperors and scholars worked to develop the university. Chu Van An was regarded as one of the most famous teachers at the Imperial Academy.

In modern time, the Imperial Academy continues to grow and receive recognition. Many old buildings were reconstructed in 1999. In 2003, four statues (Ly Thanh Tong, Ly Nhan Tong, Le Thanh Tong, and Chu Van An) were built. In 2010, the 82 Doctors’ stone tablets were recognised by UNESCO.

Cách đây rất lâu, vào năm 1070, chưa có trường đại học nào ở Việt Nam cả. Vì vậy, vào năm 1076, Hoàng đế Lý Nhân Tông quyết định xây Quốc Tử Giám. Nó được xem là trường đại học đầu tiên của Việt Nam. Trường đại học này là một thành công lớn và hàng ngàn học giả Việt Nam đều tốt nghiệp từ ngôi trường này.

Quốc Tử Giám có một lịch sử lâu dài và thú vị. Nhiều vị vua, hoàng đế và các học giả đều làm việc để phát triển trường đại học. Chu Văn An được xem như một trong những giáo viên nổi tiếng nhất tại Quốc Tử Giám.

Ngày nay, Quốc Tử Giám tiếp tục phát triển và nhận được sự quan tâm của mọi người. Nhiều tòa nhà cũ được tái thiết vào năm 1999. Vào năm 2003, 4 bức tượng (vua Lý Thánh Tông, vua Lý Nhân Tông, vua Lê Thánh Tông và Chu Văn An) được xây dựng. Vào năm 2010, 82 bia tiến sĩ được UNESCO công nhận.
